Field vs Inputfield Relationship

ProcessWire fields have two main components:

1. Field Object (/wire/core/Field.php)

   • Stores configuration in database (fields table)
   • Contains all field properties and settings
   • Persistent across requests
   • Universal source of truth for configuration

2. Inputfield Class (/wire/modules/Inputfield/)

   • Renders HTML for admin interface
